We are currently seeking a Transport Operations Manager
Overview:
Oversee and ensure the transportation operations department is functioning to maximum efficiency, to attain the level of service and customer satisfaction as outlined by Senior Management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain good working relationships with other departments and branches within the company, as well as with all customers, suppliers and agencies.
- Ensure regular operational meetings are schedule to create an efficient and effective communication forum for all staff.
- Ensure regular training, coaching and ongoing follow up occur with team.
- Assist in developing a department operating budget and to manage within the guidelines of the approved budget.
- Review daily the production by shift and department, and to ensure maximum utilization of all linehaul and P&D equipment.
- Develop a responsive and effective operations team and to foster good working relationships between all departments within the company.
- Ensure that all standard operating procedures are followed by staff.
- Ensure all vehicles are properly maintained and adhere to the company and government compliance regulations.
- Responsible for the security of the building and that the Health and Safety Policy is being followed.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- 5-7 years experience in a Management role in a Transport environment.
- Post Secondary Education with focus on Transport, Logistics, Warehouse Management is an asset.
- Experience establishing and working with key performance indicators, with proven ability to achieve set targets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Ability to work with people of all levels within the organization.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
- Outstanding analytical skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Detail problem solving and sound decision making skills.
- Able to build team work and positive environment and possess the ability to develop and coach.
- Must be flexible with hours of work to meet the demands of varying shifts
